Short: UnRAR 2.04.1 (68k+PPC) Author: Eugene Roshal, MagicSN@Birdland.es.bawue.de (Amiga Port) Uploader: MagicSN Birdland es bawue de Type: util/arc Architecture: m68k-amigaos; ppc-warpup This is an 68k and PPC Amiga port of Markus F.X.J. Oberhumer's Linux port of unRAR, originally based on the standard RAR 2.04 OS/2 distribution (rar204p.exe). For all of you who don't know, RAR is quite a powerful archiver currently available for MSDOS, Windows 95/NT, OS/2, Linux and some other UNIX variants. It supports 'solid' archives, which is sort of a tar+gzip, and has a nice builtin user interface on most platforms. Please note that while unRAR is copyrighted freeware the RAR archiver is distributed as shareware. unRAR comes with NO WARRANTY, for details see LICENSE.TXT. Amiga/PPC notes: - the modified source files plus Amiga 68k/PPC makefiles for StormC PPC can be found in the "src-amiga" directory. Projectfiles are also found there. Note: ppcunix.lib/unix.lib is needed for compile. Ask me for it, in case needed. - the rest of the distribution basically is unchanged, thus more or less identical to the Linux release (the ELF binary has been removed, the Amiga binaries have been added, plus this .readme and src-amiga) Usage: 68k binary is called "UnRAR" and useable from Shell. PPC binary is called "UnRARWOS" and usable from Shell. Thanks to being based on WarpOS no ELF-Loader-Crap needed. As to my experience the PPC version is around 2x faster than the 68k version (on a 150 MHz PPC Board). -- SPH, 25/Aug/98
