I did this before with a few released 3DStudio models (e.g. the Raider Fighter), and a new bunch of models is soon to be finished. The reason for this is simple, I bought LightWave 3D, and its modeling tools are exactly what I needed to get a little more creative. Some of you might have dwnloaded y earlier 3DS version of the Raider Fighter, what you have here though is not only a conversion but really a completely new version I built. It is more accurate and more detailed and also features a nicer texturemap. I hope you will like it. :) What should be in this archive: ********************************** - Raider_Fighter.lwo The LightWave 3D model - Raider_Fighter.lws A setup scene with short animation - Raider_Fighter_Hull.iff The hull texture map - Raider_Fighter_Hull_Spec.iff The hull specular map - Raider_Fighter.jpg A rendering of the model - Raider_Fighter.txt This textfile The object should be placed in the "Newtek/Objects/Babylon5/Raiders" folder, the maps in the "Newtek/Images/Babylon5/Raiders" folder and the scene into "Newtek/Scenes/Babylon5/Raiders". About the model: ********************************** Te Raiders appeared frequently during the first season of Babylon 5, this Fighter was their main weapon, though we have seen a carrier and an outpost as well. It could be seen best in "signs and Portents" during a large scale assault on Bablyon 5 itself. It's not a complicated model, so it took only 2 hours to build, the texture took almost as long. ;) Thanks all the people who sent me some pics, some proved very useful for this newer model, thanks folks! :) I think it's as detailed as it can be, the model simply doesn't offer more details to model, if you have any ideas how I could improve the model then feel free to contact me. I don't mind if you modify the model, as long as you don't distribute that version. Other than that you are free to use it, and if you use it in pictures or animations I'd really like to see what you did with it. :) You can reach me via email at: G_Kane@compuserve.com or visit my homepage for more models, updates and artwork at: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/G_Kane Legal Stuff: ********************************** This model is distributed as freeware, which means that I own the so called "copyright" to this work.
