Short: alt-intl keymap Author: solar@rootdirectory.de (Martin Baute) Uploader: solar rootdirectory de (Martin Baute) Type: driver/input Version: 1.1 Architecture: generic Distribution: Aminet The alt-intl keymap (altgr-intl on Windows, "International Alternative (AltGr-Deadkeys)" on Linux) combines the standard US keymap with easy access to most international characters, either through combining Alt key with an alphanumeric key, or a number of Alt-Deadkeys allowing intuitive combination of diacritics with letters. I very much prefer this keymap on any machine I work on, and I thought I would share my Amiga alt-intl keymap (created with EditKeys v1.63 by David Kinder). A number of characters usually available in this mapping cannot be displayed by classic AmigaOS. With no good idea what else to do I mapped these keys to space. German users: Alt-q is ä, Alt-y is ü, Alt-p is ö, and Alt-s is ß. You get used to it really quick, and from there on it is actually very comfortable. Drop alt-intl into DEVS:Keymaps, and you can select the new mapping in Prefs:Input. CHANGES: -------- 1.1 -- The first release had a number of issues, most of all failing to load when using Prefs:Input. It also turns out that I have not yet fully understood how deadkeys work, and have thus removed them from the mapping for now. 1.0 -- Initial Release
