Short: Makes guide of aminet files etc. v1.8 Author: fini.alring@netmedia.dk (Fini 'Warp' Alring) Uploader: fini alring netmedia dk Type: comm/misc Version: 1.8 Requires: Arexx, rexxsupport.library, aminet:util/sys/DirII.lha (v3.3a). Architecture: m68k-amigaos Long: Fini "Warp" Alring of GiGA Productions. Presents ·GigaGuide (ex. AmiNetGuide)· *************** This program requires this cool Dir replacement: *************** It can be found on Aminet:pub/util/sys/DirII.lha ******************************************************************************** ******************************* NOTE about GIF support: ************************ Even though I don't like this format, we have to trouble ourselves, for some time. Since GIF is used widely on the net. I suggest you only use PNG & JPEG etc. See more info about the Portable Network Graphics format (PNG) at this URL: W3C - World Wide Web Consortium. >> http://www.W3C.org << ******************************************************************************** I made it because my new dowload dir, is approx. 80MB, and I simply can't cope with it! Dopus just isn't enough... ;-) GigaGuide scans the first line of all readme files in a given dir, where the Short: description is located (Look at the first line of this text!!!) It then generates an AmigaGuide, with links to both readme and it's main file. It can also be used to make a guide of your pictures dir, or archives dir etc... When you click on the filename gadget, the archive will be decompressed into Ram:, or anywhere you desire (you can also choose by file requester). Pictures and Samples can be viewed/played by a siple click, using you preferable viewer/player. When you click on the Short: text, the whole readme file will be shown. Sub-Dirs are shown as gadgets, and by a click, you can generate a Guide for that directory too. It can put the Short:-line into the archive's filenote (comment), which is very useful, especially for BBS ownerS! ;-) It can sort files in 'Alphabetical order' or 'Newest at top order'. ****************** ****************** GOOD NEWS!!! ****************** ****************** If you own LZX v1.10r (the registered version of 1.10) and up, then you can use LZX to decompress LHA & LZH archives, thus increasing performance by 25-35% (Acording to LZX.Guide). Mr. Jonathan Forbes has quit his work on LZX, at least on the Amiga Platform. A little while ago, some people from the Amiga community, asked Mr. Forbes to release a generic keyfile for LZX v1.21r (The newest! ever to be made ;-( ) and Mr. Forbes graciously agreed... And now we have the product as FREEWARE (Not PD!) Rumour: I (Warp) heard from somewhere that LZX algorithms where sold to the devil himself; Bill Gates! And that M$'s CAB format is really LZX in a new form. (Windows95 is compressed in CAB format on the CD-ROM it's shipped on). Please note: I can't validate this story. But I believe it... ;-) ******************* ******************* History: (This will be moved to a Guide soon! =) Names bounded with brakets ( [Fini Alring] ) is the names of persons who gave me the idea, of the certain feature... thanks guys!!! =) SHORT = Short message about the release.
