MicroBase 5.04 adds the following features: o Personalization process revised o XML export revised o Lotus SmartSuite Millennium 9.7 (Approach database application) compatibility Overview -------- MicroBase provides the following features: o Multi user support o imports ASCII, HTML, dBase (e.g. Lotus Approach), SuperBase, XML o exports ASCII, HTML, dBase, LaTeX, asc2frm, SQL, XML o Text, Number, Date, Time, Calculation, External, and Reference fields o up to 2,000,000,000 records with up to 64,000 bytes o maximum field length of 2,048 bytes o symmetric encryption with password files (optional, up tp 16,000 bytes). o external viewers for Amiga OS 2.x o transaction support and recovery o external database browser and preferences tool o programmable via ARexx scripts o external query utilities (of use for CGI) o dBase editor included o Reference caches for fast references between databases o "virtual mode" swaps internal data structures to the disk and allows the use of LARGE databases o and much more! Installation and description ---------------------------- MicroBase requires at least Amiga OS 2.04, 1 MB RAM and about 2 MB of free disk space. Use MicroBase to manage recipes, pictures, contacts, and documents. Thanks to its "external fields" which contain paths to files, you can view and process pictures from within MicroBase. Datatypes are supported via "Multiview". Multiple database files may be linked using "references". Inconsistent data will be refused by MicroBase. When you enter data to be saved to database records, press the key in order to get a description of the data MicroBase expects you to enter. By using random access files, MicroBase does not require much memory. Database files are sorted "in-place" via virtual memory. MicroBase follows the concept of database transactions. This allows MicroBase to rebuild the database file after a system crash. The database files may be used by several people at the same time; records or files will be locked to achieve that. MicroBase ships with several utilities providing data exchange with other database management systems like dBASE and SuperBase. A preferences tool and a database browser GUI are also provided. Distribution ------------ MicroBase is a shareware program. After registration, you will receive a keyfile which unlocks this and all future versions of the software. Without such a keyfile, only databases with up to 20 records are supported and the "virtual mode" is disabled.
