Short: CPU benchmarks for Amiga compilers Author: Bernie Innocenti Uploader: Bernie Innocenti Type: util/moni Version: 2.0 Requires: 3 MB of free RAM, 64 KB stack, an FPU for 020-060fp/040/060 Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 2.0.4 Distribution: Aminet Kurz: CPU-Benchmarks fuer Amiga-Compiler Benchwork is a set of CPU benchmarks for comparing m68k compilers, built from code that Amiga programs actually run: LHa, zlib, libpng, the FreeType rasterizer, Dhrystone, a landscape renderer and its Floyd-Steinberg remap to 32 colors, a triangle setup loop from a Wipeout port, the vertex projection and polygon clipper of an NFS3 port, AmiSSL's SHA-512, AES-GCM, ChaCha20-Poly1305 and X25519, and memcpy/memmove patterns. Everything works on memory buffers, so the timed region contains only compiler-generated code: no disk, display or OS calls. All are built with m68k-amigaos-gcc 16.2 at -O2. Usage ----- stack 65536 benchwork-040 [BENCH ...] [REPEAT n] [MINTIME ms] [FASTMEM] [LIST] BENCH names the benchmarks to run, all of them by default. REPEAT is the number of timed repetitions (3). MINTIME loops over each benchmark's work until a repetition lasts that many milliseconds, for fast emulators. FASTMEM puts the buffers in fast memory. LIST lists the benchmarks. Each benchmark prints its fastest and average time in milliseconds, its rate per second and a checksum, which must be the same for every compiler. Version 2.0 changed the options and the workloads: times are not comparable with 1.x. License ------- The harness is 0BSD; the vendored code keeps its own licenses, listed in third_party/LICENSE.md.
