Short: Boot with animated Amigalogo & music! Author: M.Frishert@net.HCC.nl (Oops! Demo Division) Uploader: M Frishert net HCC nl (Michiel Frishert, AKA Mentat/Oops!) However, it's great to look at, and it will certainly impress users of inferior platforms. The supplied installer script puts the program into your c: directory, and adds 1 (yes, only one, don't worry) line to your startup-sequence. After that, it will run at every boot. ---------->>Reasons to like BOops! No! It does NOT show any breasts! :-) BOops! opens a grey screen with the official Amiga-logo on it. Except for the red rectangle. Don't worry, because that's the greatest feature of this program. From below your screen, a giant red square shows up, and flies to the right position above the i in "Amiga", to land there with a big *BANG*. Quite spectacular, don't you think? Did I mention that a very nice, classical piece of music plays while you see this? Including the famous rolling drums, to build up tension. After doing what it's made for, BOops! exits to the system in a friendly way, so your Amiga can continue executing the startup-sequence. You can quit BOops! before it auto-exits by pressing the left mouse button. Only if you're fast enough. :-) ------->>Reasons to dislike BOops! Your startup will take a little longer. On the other hand, it's only a question of SECONDS. We tried to make it as short as possible, without forgetting the purpose of BOops!. It does NOT multitask because that would probably mess up its appearance. But why should it, anyway? BOops! v1.0 does NOT work properly on 040/060 machines at the moment. ECS users can run it if the chipmem is there, but the timing could be a bit messed up. DigiBooster 1.5 (8 channel protracker clone) hangs up after loading a module when you ran BOops! before. We don't exectly know who to blame. Except for DB, BOops! does not affect your WB's behavior. No other bugs are known. --------------------->>The Future? We made BOops! because we wanted something instead of all the boot-picture displayers. It had to be faster and more impressive. Because the coder uses an Amiga 1200/030 machine, it was mainly developed for that specific configuration. So please tell us how it runs on your machine, so we can improve it. Don't forget it was only a fun-project at first, made in only one day. In theory, future versions of BOops! should be able to run the same on every Amiga, including 040/060 and ECS machines. Please send us e-mail to tell us what you think of it. Don't be afraid to give comments and bug-reports. We can't improve the program without any. Crazy new ideas are welcome, as well. :-) -------------------->>Distribution BOops! is e-mail-ware. Send a nice e-mail to one of the addresses below, and you're free to use it as long as you want. The archive OPS-BOOPS.lha is freely distributable, as long as it is unmodified. (Except for BBS-ads.) So don't mess with the filename of the archive, and leave all files where they belong. Inside, that is. ------------->>Oops! in cyberspace Mentat: M.Frishert@net.HCC.nl Radium: lrvk@euronet.nl Whizzkid: whizzkid@xs4all.nl WWW: http://www.xs4all.nl/~whizzkid/oops.html
