Short: Small user registry program. Author: benjamin.ortega@yops.xg.com (Benjamin Ortega) Uploader: trussell omnifest uwm edu (Tim Russell) Type: comm/maxs Version: 0.4ß Architecture: m68k-amigaos Long : ----- PIRegistry v0.4ß by Benjamin Ortega ----- This is a little program I wrote in an afternoon, but I thought it was pretty cool, so here it is. It asks a user a list of questions, and then other users can access that user's responses. The code isn't particularly well-written, but give me a break, this is my first attempt at a viable BASIC door, let alone a MaxsBBS door :) Good things: - helps users get to know each other and gives your BBS a more friendly feel - is the only door of it's type to work with MaxsBBS (to the best of my knowledge, anyway) - gives me the ability tell tell people I'm a coder (barely!) Bad things: - has some odd bugs: - Because of the way I did the file I/O routines, the registry will look funny if the user uses a " in their Registry. This is especially bad for the "Height:" field. I put in a few reminders :) - Every time a data file is written, the progam creates an icon for it! Can anyone fix this? - since I'm not much of a programmer, the program isn't really all that professional-looking. Does the job though. Future plans: - Sysop-definable questions (if not, I'll just throw in the source code) - Improved file I/O to get rid of the " bug. - Nicer example menu - More well-written code in general Registration: It's E-mailware. If you put this online, send me an me an E-mail and I can send you a version with your BBS name in the opening text and the list of questions you want to appear in the program. Either that or I can just send you the source and you can do whatever the hell you want with it (Just thought I'd hold something out so you'd have to cantact me :) Failing that, send me your Amiga BASIC manual and all your old college BASIC (and/or C or Pascal) books if you ain't using them. It's for a good cause! Anyway, have fun with it, and there's further info in the docs in the archive. I plan to update this; I'll post them on Aminet (look ma, I'm on a CD!), through my BBS (see below), and possibly on the MaxsBBS mailing list. Greetings to: Anthony Barrett (great BBS program! But hey, we all need lives) Norbert Feist (eagerly awaiting Maxs 1.55 [and 2.0!] ) Ignus Fast of Surface normal (author of IgRegistry, which is where I stole this from) Krion and Accolyte (KFB is all that!)
